Full Access Library Card:
Norwalk residents* may have a full access library card to access all of the materials available to check out as well as gain access to the library’s e-books, e-audiobooks, and other library resources.
Save time and register online! Sign up here, and, after residency is verified, a staff member will contact you for pickup or mailing the card.
- *Norwalk residents, with proof of residency, may have a library card free of charge (see below).
- *Residents of Cumming, Ackworth, Martensdale, Rural Warren County, or any community participating in Iowa’s Open Access Program may obtain a library card free of charge, with proof of residency (see below)
- *Residents of St. Mary’s, Spring Hill, and Sandyville (or communities that do not contract for library services and/or participate in the Iowa Open Access Program) will have to pay an annual fee of $28.00 to borrow physical library materials.
- Libby digital access: Per the library’s BRIDGES contract, only Norwalk Easter Public Library cardholders who reside in Norwalk or Warren County rural residents will have access to the library’s OverDrive/Libby collections. Users can use Libby through their home library (the library in the city where you live OR the library your city contracts with for library services). Many metro libraries, including Norwalk, participate in the BRIDGES consortium, so there’s a good chance patrons will still have access to Libby through their home library. Residents of Cumming will need a West Des Moines Library card as the City of Cumming contracts with the City of West Des Moines for library services. Residents of Martensdale will need a Saint Charles Library card as the City of Martensdale contracts with the City of Saint Charles for library services. Saint Mary’s, Sandyville, and Spring Hill residents will need to contact their respective city councils to encourage them to contract with another city for full library services including digital access to Libby.
- *We do not issue library cards for out-of-state individuals.
- A valid card or photo i.d. is required to check out materials.
- Cards are issued for two (2) years; there is no fee for renewal.
- There are no age restrictions for library card applicants; however anyone under 14 will require a guardian’s signature to obtain a library card.
- By state law, all patron borrowing records are confidential, including records of minor children. Information cannot be released without due process of law.
