Teen Volunteers
The Norwalk Easter Public Library accepts high school volunteers throughout the school-year. Volunteer hours can count towards Silver Cord hours. Interested teens can reach out to our Teen Services Librarian, Catherine, at cshook@norwalk.iowa.gov to inquire about our current volunteer needs. We have a limited number of volunteer shifts available throughout the year, so we cannot guarantee shifts to all of those who inquire.
During the Summer Reading Program, our volunteer needs are higher, and we host a Youth Volunteer Program that runs in June and July for middle and high schoolers. For this, high school volunteers must submit an application during our application window, attend training, and commit to a minimum set of hours each month. Applications for the Youth Volunteer Program are typically made available in March/April, and application windows are announced on our social media.
Teen Leadership Council
The Norwalk Easter Public Library has a Teen Leadership Council (grades 7 – 12) which meets monthly on the fourth Saturday of the month. Meetings and hours spent towards TLC created programs can count towards Silver Cord hours. Members must apply during valid application windows, and membership is capped. Please refer to our social media and print calendar for information on application windows.
