Tuesdays at 10:30 am
Join us for songs, stories and rhymes! We’ll have a fun, interactive 25 minute storytime followed by an optional playtime or craft. This storytime is geared towards children ages 2 – 4 and their caregivers, though children of all ages and their caregivers are welcome!
Thursdays at 9:30 am
We’ll share bounces, rhymes, songs, and stories with you and baby at this short storytime, followed by playtime. Recommended for birth to about 24 months. Older kids are welcome to attend with you and baby.
Music and Movement
Thursdays at 10:30 am
Dance, stretch, move, sing and play at our new weekly children’s program! This very active, music-filled program will encourage early literacy skills through songs, movement, and play with rhythm instruments and props. Recommended for toddlers and preschoolers; about 25 minutes.
Wednesdays, 2:00 – 3:30 pm
Get creative with weekly activities for kids focused on making, building, and creativity. No registration required, just stop by anytime from 2-3:30pm. Recommended for ages 5-11, held on Wednesdays when Norwalk Schools are in session and releasing early.
Monthly on Fridays from 10:00 to 11:30 am
October 20th, November 17th, December 15th
Connect and play at this monthly playgroup! We will provide coffee and tea for parents and caregivers, and play experiences recommended for children ages 5 and under.
First Friday of the Month through April from 10:00 to 11:30 am
Homeschooling families are invited to join us to connect with each other and library staff and enjoy some coffee, juice, and snacks. Beginning in October, this program will be held monthly. Each month we’ll have a different art and STEM activity for kids as well as information about library resources.
Saturday, December 30th, 10:30 to 11:15 am
Our library is delighted to offer bilingual storytime in Spanish/English for the first time! Please join us for exciting stories, songs, and activities! Recommended for children 5 and under with a parent/caregiver.
Library STEM Lab
Saturday, December 2nd
Sessions will have hands-on STEM activities inspired by book selections. Each event will focus on a specific STEM concept or skill, including coding, engineering, and foundational math. Ages 4-7. Caregivers must remain in the library during the program, but are encouraged to enjoy other library services while attendees participate in the lab. Registration required. Space is limited.
Family Crafternoon: Small Crafts for Gifting
Saturday, December 2nd, 1:00 to 3:00 pm
We’ll have stations set up with supplies and instructions for making small crafts great for gifting, as well as cards and gift tags. Open to all ages, and families are encouraged to craft together! Younger children will need assistance with some of the options. Drop in anytime from 1-3pm.
Howlidays at the Library
Tuesday, December 5th, 4:00 to 7:00 pm
Santa Claus is coming to the library – kids can chat with Santa and parents can take advantage of a photo opportunity (bring your own camera). Join staff & our fuzzy canine mascot Scribbles for holiday stories, crafts, & light refreshments at this drop-in event. Free for all ages!
Winter Break Drop-in Play
Thursday, December 28th, 9:30 – 11:30 am
Cold outside? Move and play inside! We’ll have a variety of activities and toys for kids, with plenty of movement activities for getting those winter wiggles out. This will be held in place of our usual Babytime and Music and Movement programs.
Free Winter Break Movie and Crafts
Thursday, December 28th, 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (PG, 2023, 1h 40m), have some popcorn, and do some related crafts! Crafts will be available starting at 1:00 pm and continue during the movie. The movie will begin at 1:15 pm.
